Forty items in forty days – are you ready for the challenge

Wednesday 6 March is the first day of Lent, when we traditionally give something up. This year, Jersey Hospice Care is hoping you will give something up - and pass it on to them.

In the run up to Easter, each day for forty days the charity would like you to take one piece of good quality clothing, accessories, shoes or toys that you no longer love and put it in a donation bag. Then, after Easter, you can bring your donations to the various drop-off points.

Amy Taylor, Director of Finance at Jersey Hospice Care, said, ‘With Easter just around the corner, now is the perfect time for a Spring clear out. Whilst you might have fallen out of love with it, your donation could be re-loved by someone else and raise money for Jersey Hospice Care.

‘Everything we receive will be sold in our Fundraising Shops, which are a treasure trove of good quality, reasonably priced items. All the funds raised will be used to care for people in Jersey with a life limiting condition and provide support to their loved ones.’

Volunteers from Jersey Hospice Care will be out and about on King Street on Saturday 2 March and Tuesday 5 March, handing out the donation bags. You can also pick them up from the Town Fundraising Shop on 13 Union Street, Beau Pre Fundraising Shop in St Ouen and the Reception on Mont Cochon.

From Tuesday 23 April, you can drop off your donations at the following locations:

  • Romerils car park, 08:30 – 10:00 (Tuesday 23 April only)
  • Town Fundraising Shop, 13 Union Street, 10:00 – 16:00, Monday to Saturday
  • Beau Pre Fundraising Shop, St Ouen, 10:00 – 16:00. Monday to Saturday
  • Reception, Jersey Hospice Care, Mont Cochon, 08:00 – 20:00, Monday to Friday (Tuesday 23 to Friday 26 April only)
