Cycle the Tour de Jersey

The Tour de Jersey is back on the 7 July and it's bigger and better than ever!

Taking inspiration from the Tour de France, the Tour de Jersey has for years been a much loved regular fixture in the Jersey cycling calendar, returning this year to raise money for Jersey Hospice Care.  Organised brilliantly by The Cog and Sprocket bike shop, in association with Jersey Rouleurs cycling group; whether you want to be the next Geraint Thomas or Laura Trott, or you fancy joining in just for fun, there will be a route to suit you.

Emelita Robbins, Chief Executive of Jersey Hospice Care, is delighted that the event is back this year. ‘Cycling is a wonderfully inclusive sport and everyone can take part in this popular event. The route of the ‘Tour de Jersey’ has been thoughtfully planned out and will ensure everyone cycles safe and has a great time. We have had a good take up already from over 100 cyclists who signed up online and we expect many more will turn up and register on the day. Big thanks go to Ian Williams, owner of The Cog and Sprocket, who designed the routes and helped plan the event.’

Ian Williams, said, ‘I’m very happy to be involved in bringing back Tour de Jersey. As well as the health and environmental benefits of cycling, it’s also great fun! I’ve tried to make the routes a mixture of challenging and enjoyable, with something to suit everyone – from families with children out on their first bikes, to tougher routes for experienced club cyclists.

‘Jersey Hospice Care is such an important charity for everybody in Jersey. It’s great to be able to support the fantastic work that they do, while also encouraging people to get out and about on their bikes.’

Jersey Hospice Care would also like to thank Pitcher & Le Quesne for sponsoring the event medals, which will be awarded to all who finish. The event is supported by Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, who are kindly providing discounts for all cyclists to spend in their bar and restaurant.

The Tour takes place on Sunday 7 July. You can choose to cycle the children’s 10 km, a family-friendly 25 km, stretching 50 km and the ultimate 100 km route. There are staggered start times for each distance, between 09:00 and 10:00. All the details can be found on our website.
