At Jersey Hospice Care, every day we witness how compassion, dignity and support can transform the final chapter of someone’s life. Our nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants and volunteers are with individuals and their loved ones, providing expert care, warmth and understanding when it matters most. This care is only possible thanks to the generosity of people like you.

Jersey Hospice Care Living Well Team

" The care of Derek, myself, and all the family was exemplary. The kindness, patience, and love shown by you all meant that Derek's last days were dignified, respected and pain managed so that we could spend quality time together as husband and wife - a very special gift."

Why is it important to write a Will?

Making a will guarantees that your money and possessions are looked after in the way you wish.

How do I do it?

It’s a good idea to use a lawyer to ensure that your will is legal and valid. It’s important to make sure that you are getting the correct advice to put your mind at ease.

Can I change my mind and what if my circumstances change?

It is entirely up to you to decide who the beneficiaries of your estate are. Circumstances can change and you can update your will as many times as you like to make sure the people and causes you care about most are looked after.

Can I leave a gift in my will to Jersey Hospice Care in memory of someone special to me?

Absolutely. Leaving a gift in your will is a lasting and wonderful way of remembering your loved one and will be forever recorded as being made in their name.

What should I consider when making my Will?

Your solicitor should help you go through a list of things to consider. Some important things may be;

  • Your assets-property, car, jewellery, savings
  • Your beneficiaries-the people and causes that will benefit from your will

  • The executor-who will oversee carrying out the instructions of your will

  • If you have young children- who will be their legal guardian

I’d like more information, is there someone I can talk to?

Yes, we would be delighted to talk through your questions. Please call us on 01534 786107 and a member of our fundraising team will be happy to help.

All conversations will be kept confidential and please do remember that, should your circumstances change, your intended gift is not legally binding.

Please bear in mind that we cannot provide legal advice. If this is something you would like, please speak with your solicitor
