Karl 'The Shoe' Fitzpatrick wins Pride of Britain Award!

Monday 23 Sep 2024

Karl Fitzpatrick - AKA 'The Shoe' - has won the Pride of Britain regional fundraiser of the year award!

We were delighted when ITV Channel approached us to let us know that Karl was the deserving winner of the award, and that they wanted to surprise him with it at Hospice.

So, under the guise of visiting a patient as 'The Shoe', we got Karl on site and had him sitting out in our lovely (but rather windy that day!) gardens, unsuspecting of what was to come...

He was awarded regional fundraiser of the year for his dedication to raising money for Hospice dressed as our mascot - a shoe. He started running - while wearing the costume - to raise money after the father of a close friend was cared for by Hospice.

In the past year, Karl has raised more than £6,000 for us, and more than £18,000 since he started two years ago.

This fundraising means we can keep caring for our patients and their families, providing the best possible specialist care.
