Would you like to volunteer at the Hospice Shop West?

Below you can find a summary of the volunteer opportunities available in our fantastic Retail Team based at Beau Pres Farm, St Ouen

Fashion Production Team

This is a vital volunteer role which enables us to keep the high volume of clothing donations moving from the back door to the sales floor, turning donated items into much-needed cash which in turn helps our team to deliver vital, free of charge, services to islanders. Duties include:

  • You will steam, hang, and ticket clothing items so that they are ready for pricing.
  • Once priced, you will support the shop team in placing clothing items out on the floor, keeping those rails full and appealing to our customers.

Available Shifts

Mondays - 13:00-16:00

Wednesdays - 13:00-16:00

Saturdays - 09:00-12:00

This is a moderately physical role, with repetitive actions, bending, stretching and some light lifting.

Donation Receiving Team

Supporting our retail team at the customer donation point, our donations receiving volunteers will meet and greet our generous donors, ensuring that the donor experience is one that will ensure repeat visits to Jersey Hospice Care shops. Duties included:

  • Customer engagement, being an ambassador for our Hospice.
  • Identifying suitable donations and those that we are unable to sell in our shops
  • Carrying out an initial pre-sorting of items, disposing of any damaged or unsaleable items that have been left with us.
  • Moving products around the production area to the designated product areas for the team to price, ready to put out on the sales floor.

This role is an extension to an existing function, so we have a number of opportunities:

Available shifts

Wednesdays - 10:00-13:00 and 13:00-16:00

Thursdays - 10:00-13:00 and 13:00-16:00

Fridays - 10:00-13:00 and 1300:-16:00

This can be at times a physical role, with some heavy lifting and carrying. Our donation receiving volunteers are effective communicators, and able to build rapport and create a positive customer experience.
