What are the visiting hours at Jersey Hospice Care?
There is no restriction to visiting hours. We ask you to respect the privacy of other patients. There are some communal sitting areas available for visits with family and friends and a sanctuary for quiet reflection. If you wish to restrict the times of your visitors, to allow you some quiet time, please speak to one of our nursing staff who will be happy to arrange this. Children are welcome to visit, but we ask that they are supervised by an adult at all times.
Can I visit Jersey Hospice Care out of hours?
Our volunteer receptionists are here between 09.00 and 17.00, Monday to Friday. After this and at weekends the reception entrance is controlled by our nursing staff. If you would like to visit your loved one out of hours, please be aware that there maybe a delay in gaining access to the building as the team could be busy providing care to patients. We appreciate your patience in this matter.
Are families able to stay with their relatives overnight?
Families are welcome to stay overnight, however facilities are limited. Please ask a member of staff for more information.
I have a life limiting illness and am visiting Jersey. Can I access Jersey Hospice Care Services?
Anyone who is thinking of visiting Jersey with a life limiting illness, and who may require our services, should contact Jersey Hospice Care directly on +44 (01534) 876555 to speak to a member of the Specialist Palliative Care Team.
Am I allowed to smoke?
Jersey Hospice Care has a designated smoking area, which is for the exclusive use of patients only. We are committed to providing a healthy environment. As such, Jersey Hospice Care is a non-smoking site, inclusive of the gardens and car park, and in accordance with Jersey Law. This applies to all families, carers, visitors, staff and volunteers. Is there parking available at Jersey Hospice Care?
There is free parking available for patients, families, carers, visitors, staff and volunteers.
Is there a cost for staying at Jersey Hospice Care?
No, Jersey Hospice Care provides its services free of charge. Your care during your stay will continue to be supported by your GP. The cost of GP visits during this time will remain your responsibility, in the same way it would if you were in your own home.
I’m visiting a patient at Jersey Hospice Care. Are there refreshments available onsite?
There is an onsite, self service coffee shop and vending machine for the use of all visitors to Jersey Hospice Care. This runs on an honesty box basis. All proceeds go towards the running of the coffee shop.
Can I access Wi-Fi at Jersey Hospice Care?
Free access is available throughout the hospice. Please ask a member of staff for log in details.
Am I allowed to bring pets into Jersey Hospice Care?
Pets are more than welcome. Should patients wish to have pets brought in to see them in the Hospice, please make suitable arrangements with the staff. Dogs should be kept on their leads at all times.
What information will Jersey Hospice Care capture and how will it be used?
We shall ask you for information about yourself to enable us to best plan your care and support. Everyone working for us has a duty to keep information confidential. All information is treated in the strictest confidence, on a need to know basis only, and the greatest care is taken to protect your personal details.
We may use some of this information to check the quality of the service we provide or to plan for the future; whenever we can, we will remove details that identify you.
You can access your health records if you wish. Please ask a member of staff for further information or if you wish to discuss what is written in your health record.
