Jump in this July and make a splash to raise some cash

Registration is now open for the annual 30 Bays in 30 Days fundraiser for The National Trust for Jersey and Jersey Hospice Care.

Now in its third year, the challenge will start with an opening swim for everyone who registers on Sunday 1 July, with another group swim on Sunday 29 July to celebrate everyone’s achievements. Throughout the month, swimmers, who can be individuals, families and corporate teams, decide which bays and when they want to swim to complete the 30 bays challenge. This could be before work, at lunchtime, after work, before a picnic tea, by moonlight … basically anytime they can fit a swim in!

The concept celebrates how lucky we are to have so many amazing places to go sea swimming. Swimmers can experience a fun way of making the most of living in our beautiful island, feel that they have achieved something this summer, visit bays they have never swum in before or haven’t visited for years and make them feel alive and loving life!

Emelita Robbins, Jersey Hospice Care’s Chief Executive, explained why she will be taking part. ‘30 Bays in 30 Days has become a firm favourite in the calendars of many islanders. The feedback each year is fantastic. We hear from people who are swimming in bays on beaches they hadn’t been to in years. Along with the National Trust for Jersey we are delighted to hear how people are making the best of our wonderful island.

‘I’m looking forward to the first group swim. It will be great to see some familiar faces and I hope plenty of new ones too!’

Charles Alluto, Chief Executive of the National Trust for Jersey, said, ‘We hope as many people as possible will take part and enjoy our 30 Bays in 30 Days challenge. Please do not be put off if you think you cannot complete the challenge in July, we encourage you to continue in August or just swim in your favourite bay as many times as you can.

‘All money raised will be split equally between Jersey Hospice Care and the National Trust for Jersey and will help in The Trust’s pledge to permanently safeguard a further 1,000 vergées of unspoilt coastline forever and for everyone. Please help us to keep Jersey the special place it is.’
