Islanders get ready to cycle in the High Atlas Mountains

A group of islanders are heading to Morocco on Saturday for a cycling adventure to raise money for Jersey Hospice Care.

We have organised overseas challenges every two years since 2001, which have taken our Challengers all over the world, including China, Peru, Vietnam, Ecuador, Tanzania and Costa Rica. Our Challengers fundraising efforts have now raised more than £1 million for us.

The cyclists will leave Jersey on Saturday, before hitting the roads on Sunday. The diverse cultural adventure will offer incredible cycling. They will take in the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, dotted with traditional Berber mud-brick villages, argan forests and undulating roads of the coast. Challenging mountainous terrain provides tough climbs and unforgettable sweeping descents, while the ever-changing scenery, villages and cities will showcase Morocco’s enchanting diversity.

Katrina Hancock, Director of Income Generation, on behalf of all those at Jersey Hospice Care, wishes the team an enjoyable and safe time. ‘We are so grateful to this fantastic team who have spent months training and fundraising to support the work we do at Jersey Hospice Care. While they will be cycling in some of the most beautiful parts of the country that are off the beaten track, it will still be a tough adventure that challenges each one of them – we wish them a wonderful and safe trip.’
