Through out the year Jersey Hospice Care connects with the Islands’ secondary schools, both at Jersey Hospice Care and in the community.
Secondary school students are invited to hear more about the work of Jersey Hospice Care and a tour of the facilities. Our nurses have also gone into school for talk with students during school assemblies and house time. The presentations raise awareness of the work of Jersey Hospice Care and dispel some myths around Palliative and End of Life Care.
Tracey Fallon, Junior Sister, leads this initiative. She said ‘The students have been very receptive and we have received some lovely feedback from students and teachers. The students wrote their comments about the day on leaves and placed them on our tree. One student wrote “This is a very calm place, I am so pleased to have come to visit. Inspirational!”‘
The connecting with schools project continues and any teacher wishing to organise a talk and tour should contact Tracey on TraceyFallon@jerseyhospicecare.com
