About the event

Remember and celebrate the lives of people who have been important to you

After a well needed break last year, they are back! Since the very first walk in 2009, we’re delighted that this event has raised over £140,000 for charity. We hope that for their 10th anniversary, it will be bigger and better than ever!

Once again we’re inviting everyone to join in for an amazing Moonlight Walk through the streets of St Helier on the 1 June to remember and celebrate the lives of people who have been important to you. This year, the funds raised will be split between Jersey Hospice Care and the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity.

Full Moon Walk (ten miles)

The walk starts from St Brelade’s Parish Hall in St Aubin, so from there walk straight along the Avenue and continue past the Waterfront and the Steam Clock. Follow the road past Commercial Buildings and up the granite steps opposite the old La Folie Pub to the top of Mount Bingham. Continue down Mount Bingham and along Havre des Pas to the roundabout by the Normandy Hotel. Turn left towards Route du Fort and a water stop.

Cross Route du Fort (very carefully!) and continue up the road to the top of Colomberie. Turn left and carry on down Colomberie and onto Queen Street, King Street and then through to Sand Street, along Seaton Place and to Gloucester Street. Turn left and cross the main road towards Jardin del la Mer (carefully!). Carry on towards West Park, then it’s straight along the Avenue back to the Parish Hall where there will be hot drinks and cakes waiting!

Half Moon Walk (five miles)

There is a shorter five mile route, the Half Moon Walk. Bring the children and even the dog if you like!

This walk will also begin from St Brelade’s Parish Hall in St Aubin at 21:00, going straight down the Avenue towards town. When you reach the shelter opposite the entrance to Tyneville Lane, this will be the point to turn around and head back to the Parish Hall for a hot drink and some cakes. There are no roads to cross so it’s much safer if you have little ones with you.

There will be a marshal to meet you at the shelter with some water and sweeties should you need some sustenance for the trip back!

Fancy Dress

We love seeing your fancy dress outfits. This year’s theme is a ‘Pyjama Party’! So why not get your comfy pj’s or onesies on (fancy dress is optional!).

Name a Star

When you are remembering someone very dear to you, naming a shining star in their honour is a unique way to express your feelings that will last forever.

There will be a Book of Remembrance on the night for you to write your messages in and by making a small donation you will receive a star pin badge and the star will be dedicated to all your loved ones.

Please note that we may use photographs or videos taken at the Walk for present or future promotion and marketing.

Our Moonlight Walk is a chance for us to remember those loved ones we have lost and also raise vital funds and we ask each walker to raise as much as they can to support patients with life-limiting illnesses.
