**Christmas Tree Collections will be run in accordance with Government Guidance and all supporters will be advised closer to the time of any additional requirements**
Our Christmas Tree Collection is a fun community event, which takes place at the end of the festivities – usually on or after Twelfth night.
Disposing of your old tree can be really inconvenient. Cutting it up, taking it to the tip, the mess in the car thanks to all those pine needles, it can drive even a Christmas saint to distraction! Thanks to this tree-mendous initiative, you’ll never have to worry about disposing of your unwanted Christmas tree again. Simply sign up for us to take it away, in return for a donation, for it to be tree-cycled and all the hassle will be gone!
The scheme is run solely by an army of generous volunteers who give up their time to drive collection vans island-wide, man phone lines, and organise registrations. Further help is provided by the garden centres, local media, Department for Infrastructure, Webreality, Integrated Skills and La Collette Household Green Waste, as well as an abundance of kind donations from various food outlets.
The initiative is so successful thanks to its passionate founder, Trevor Parker, and the volunteers who help out year after year. Trevor commented, ‘The project has grown from collecting a few hundred trees to over 2,000 trees and from using two or three vans to now over 30. I am so proud that it’s become so successful, but I’m well aware that this is due to the commitment and enthusiasm that the volunteers show every year.’
The 2020 Christmas Tree Collection had more than 2,400 trees collected by over 50 volunteers, raising a record-breaking £42,000 for Jersey Hospice Care.
First launched by Trevor in 2005, the initiative has raised more than £300,000 for Jersey Hospice Care.
We always rely on an army of volunteers who give up their time and vehicles free of charge to collect trees. If you would like to help out in any way over the weekend, please let us know, by completing this online application form. Thank you in advance for your support – we couldn’t do it without you!
The last date to register your tree will be 14:00 on Tuesday 4 January 2022 for St Helier business collections and midnight on Wednesday 5 January 2020 for residential collections.
St Helier Business collections will take place on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 January 2021
Household collections will take place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 January 2021
Please have your tree in an easily accessible place by 09:00 on the first day of collections (Wednesday for business collections and Saturday for household).
We ask for a minimum donation of £10 to collect and recycle your Christmas tree. Please give generously, especially if you have more than one tree for collection.
