About the Facilitators

Gail Edwards is the Nurse Champion at Jersey Hospice Care. Her primary role has been to support the implementation of the Gold Standards Framework throughout the community in Jersey. This evidenced based approach to end of life care helps develop the competency and confidence of staff to empower them to manage the palliative and end of life care needs of patients regardless of care setting.

Gail has spent 12 years in various nursing roles within Jersey Hospice Care, achieving a BSc Clinical Practice from the University of Southampton and is currently studying at Masters level. Gail is passionate about achieving ‘the one chance to get it right’ at the end of life by ensuring the right care is delivered to the right patient, at the right time, in the right place.

For this reason she works to improve her knowledge through continuous professional development and through delivering education in an engaging innovative style.

It sets out our vision to improve end of life care through partnership and collaboration between organisations at local level. It is delivered by experts from across Jersey Hospice Care and is run over six three hour workshops and sets out six ‘ambitions’ – principles for how care for those nearing death should be delivered.
