Care at Hospice
At times, you may need round the clock care that can be provided on the In Patient Unit.
Gail joined Jersey Hospice Care in 2013 as the Lead Nurse. She came over from North Wales where she and her husband had grown up, married, and raised their family.
Gail graduated as a nurse from Leeds and worked for four years in St James' University Hospital. After developing her clinical skills in the generalist area, Gail moved to start work in a newly built hospice in Wrexham - Nightingale House Hospice in 1994. Gail held both clinical and leadership roles there and her focus was building on her post graduate knowledge and skills before moving over to Jersey.
For more than thirty years, Gail's passion has been palliative care and she has always focused on improving patient care, experience, and services.
Gail has had the privilege of working with the clinical teams at Jersey Hospice Care as the Director of Palliative Care Services to develop services to meet the needs of islanders now and in the future following the redesign of the buildings at Clarkson House. More recently, as the Director of Clinical Strategy, Gail has worked with other providers and authored the first island wide 'Palliative and End of Life Care Strategy' - which was published October 2023 and launched by the Health Minister.
Gail's main focus now is to deliver this strategy for Jersey.
Palliative care has given Gail the opportunity to meet the most inspiring people in terms of patients, families, colleagues, and volunteers and taught her the real value of life. As such, Gail loves spending quality time with her family, especially her four-year-old grandson.
