Retail Shops
Jersey Hospice Care has two retail shops:
The St Helier Shop
Recent work to extend and modernise Jersey Hospice Care’s charity shop on Union Street in St Helier is almost complete. The charity’s senior nurse, Margaret McGovern, will officially re-open the new Hospice shop at 11 o’clock on Friday 14 May.
The shop is now double the size it was previously, enabling more goods to be displayed including adult and children’s clothes, shoes, fashion accessories, toys, kitchenware, bric-a-brac, pictures, jewellery, linen and books. The building in Union Street was founded in 1999 following the generosity of Phyllis De Louche in memory of her late husband.
John Leggett, Jersey Hospice Care’s Retail Manager said: "The recent work to the shop is long overdue. We get lots of donations and in the past we haven’t had the space to put as many things out to sell as we’d like as we used to sort goods in the back half of the ground floor of the shop. We’ve now opened this out as additional shop space and made room for us to sort items upstairs.
"With a much bigger shop floor space we’ll be able to put more out on display which will hopefully result in more sales and more money for Jersey Hospice Care as well as offering customers a wider range of products displayed more clearly. Please come down on Friday and have a look for yourselves!"
The Country (St Ouen’s) Shop
From Les Chenolles with Catherine Best (the windmill) on your right, carry on the main road, around double bends, until you come to a fork in the road. Take the right fork into Rue de la Croix, the Jersey Hospice Care shop is almost immediately on your right (See page 48 of the Jersey Telephone Directory, grid reference B5).

Work is ongoing at the charity’s warehouse type shop at Beau Pre in St Ouen which also sells furniture. A new car park is being built to provide space for 65 cars and access to and from the shop will be made easier. The Hospice shop at Beau Pre will now be open on the first Saturday of every month between 10am and 3pm. This is the first time in the shop’s history that there have been regular Saturday openings.
From January 2010 please make all cheques for shop items, payable to Jersey Hospice Care Retail Limited.
Each shop plays a primary role in generating much-needed revenue towards patient care, which it does through the sale of quality donated goods.
Our shops are predominantly run by volunteers who give their time freely to help with all tasks involved, from sorting to pricing to merchandising to steaming and creating seasonal displays.
