Jersey Hospice Care is a specialist palliative nursing service which provides holistic care, free of charge, for patients with cancer and motor neurone disease.
We recognise and respect that each person is unique and aim to provide palliative care which meets individual needs.
We are committed to providing a professional service of the highest standards to all those entrusted to our care.
We are based at Clarkson House (Mont Cochon, St Helier) but also work extensively in the community.
In recent years the income generated for Jersey Hospice Care by our shops and from our fundraising activities has increased significantly and in 2008 contributed 83% towards our operating costs.
The Trustees
recognise how crucial these two income streams are to funding the services which Jersey Hospice Care provides to people in Jersey and the need to safeguard this for the future. This cannot be achieved without investing more time and resources, a process which started in 2009, in readiness for incorporating both the retail and fundraising activities in line with guidelines issued by the UK Charities Commission.
Thus the Trustees have formed two wholly owned subsidiary companies, Jersey Hospice Care Retail Limited and Jersey Hospice Care Fundraising Limited to assume the respective activities of the shops and fundraising. The companies will take on these responsibilities on 01 January 2010 and activities will commence from that date.
This is a significant development in the history of the Hospice and one which it is hoped will both secure and increase the monies raised from both activities since this will become more critical as we re-develop Clarkson House to meet the anticipated increase in demand for palliative care and related services in future years.
In practice you will notice little change. However, going forward, please make any cheques regarding event entry fees, sponsorship, donations or fundraising events payable to: Jersey Hospice Care Fundraising Limited and sent to us at Clarkson House, Mont Cochon, St Helier, Jersey, JE2 3JB. Any cheques used for the shops should be made out to Jersey Hospice Care Retail Limited.
