Mid-Winter Walk Fundraiser
The sixth Peter Ward Memorial Mid-Winter Walk will take place on Saturday 15th December 2007. Last year the “Shortest Day” Walk was a great success with 89 intrepid walkers raising in excess of £15,000.00 for Jersey Hospice and Fighting Motor Neurone Disease. This year the money raised will again be split 75% to Jersey Hospice Care and 25% to Fighting Motor Neurone.
This year you can try one of three challenges. The 25 mile challenge or for those feeling particularly energetic or foolhardy continue and complete the whole 44 miles or finally for those of you that think getting up in the middle of the night is just too crazy for words and that's the 9 to 5 option. The walk follows a route similar to the Summer Itex walk and will commence at 2.00 a.m. on the morning of Saturday 15 December 2007 from the car park at Ouaisne. To avoid walking on the cliffpaths in the dark we start by walking up the hill and down the road to St. Aubin. From there the route is identical to the ITEX walk with the 25 mile finish at the third checkpoint at Wolf’s Caves (Here the 9am - 5pm option starts). For those wishing to go on (or start here) the route continues to follow the ITEX walk until Corbiere where we keep to the road up past the Prison and then down into St. Brelade and across to the finish at the car park at Ouaisne.
